Topic: New Musical Director Appointed
News Item:

Heyl Town Band is delighted to announce the appointment of Jeremy Meddows-Taylor as their new Musical Director.

Jeremy graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) Degree from Cardiff University in 2012 and is currently completing his PGCE programme. As a conductor, percussionist and trombonist, Jeremy has performed with a variety of leading ensembles in both South Wales and his native home land in Cornwall.

He was a percussionist with Camborne and Tongwynlais before joining the Cory Band in 2010. At Cardiff University, Jeremy performed with their Chamber Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra and Contemporary Music Group, was a founder of the Students’ Union Jazz Society, and Musical Director of the University's Brass Band and Big Band.

Jeremy has already led the band to an excellent 5th place at the West of England Championships, and the band members are looking forward to a happy and successful relationship with him in the future.

The 2013 Area Test Pieces have been announced:

Championship Section – Harmony Music by Phillip Sparke
First Section – Brass Triumphant by Gareth Wood
Second Section – Plantagenets by Edward Gregson
Third Section – Hollywood! by Goff Richards
Fourth Section – Devon Fantasy by Eric Ball

The Regionals are going to be held at the Riviera Centre in Torquay on the 9th and 10th of March 2013.

    Topic: 1st Prize at Bugle 2012
    News Item:

    It was a wet and windy day at Bugle, but a good day all the same. Not only did we come 1st int he Second Section, but our Solo Horn player, Matt Livingstone, received the award for 'Best Player'.

    We have to give a special thanks to Mary, Karen and Ralph from St. Stithians Band for playing with us on the day.
