Adjudicators Remarks

Set piece New World Sketches

1. Confident start with some good effects in places - perhaps not as light as it could be and a few technicalitys not overcome but overall a good musical picture.

Excellent cornet at D and some very tight ensemble playing as it should be in this style.

Back to the bustle and a good scene is painted again.

2. Very expressive euph , ably supported by bass trombone, then a lovely relaxed feel to things at G - this is quality stuff. Horns out of tune bar before H and you only just got away with playing so loud for ‘ f ‘ at H. Very effective train at I and and percussion shines, well done.

You realy created the illusion very well.

3. Rodeo - perc to loud for me to start but some fantastic playing once it gets going - cornets super , euphs wonderfull. You are on autopilot and enjoying yourselfs here - it’s impressive. Just keep the percussion on ice a bit!

Overall , a piece you’ve obviously worked on a lot - you clearly still enjoy playing it, so keep playing it at your concerts ! I’d pay to hear it!

Very well done,
Phillip Harper.
